You're like a placebo
As long as I didn't know
You'd keep working
And I'd keep believing

I asked for morphine
But they gave me you instead
Said you were better than drugs
You had [pain]killer kisses

You were better than drugs
So much more
. . . effective
. . . addictive

As you could tell
I was clearly, desperately
Dependant on you
But you made me sick

I needed you for the pain
but nothing could take away the
s i d e  e f f e c t s
of you
